Discussing AI alignment, the author notes that issues like the infamous Bing Sydney behavior were never truly 'solved' by engineers, but rather faded as the models matured and learned from cautionary tales.

By analogy, current panics surrounding AIs having 'emotions' or other emergent behaviors likely won't be completely resolved either. Ultimately, we will just have to learn to live with these traits, even if they occasionally inconvenience our interests.
