Microsoft Launches Foundry Local: Run AI Models Locally Without Cloud Dependency

Microsoft has released Foundry Local, an SDK for running AI models locally on devices. It supports .NET 8.0 and offers Windows and cross-platform versions, with the Windows version integrating the Windows ML runtime for broader hardware acceleration. Developers can install via NuGet and quickly create console apps to download local models and generate streaming chat responses. Everything runs on-device with no cloud dependency or Azure subscription.
