LangChain Founder: Modular Memory is Inevitable for AI Agents

Harrison Chase, founder of LangChain, responded to perspectives on AI agent memory, noting that it is a highly interesting and largely unexplored area.
He mentioned that with managed deep agents, developers can be more opinionated about memory architecture. Once memory becomes modular, it requires clear rules for governance:
- What gets written into memory
- What expires
- What stays local
- What another agent or session is allowed to inherit
Turning memory into infrastructure also makes it a governance boundary, representing the next standardization challenge.
