Codex Beats Claude in Architecture but Burns $500/Day in API Costs

However, the cost was staggering: Codex consumed $500 in API tokens in a single day for tasks that would use only about 10% of a Claude Max plan's credits. Due to the high expenses, the developer switched back to the subsidized Claude Code.
