Amazon is investing in a new natural gas power plant to supply its new data center in West Texas, which could become one of the largest single producers of greenhouse gases in the US, according to the New York Times.

Equipped with 35 natural-gas turbines, the plant in Pecos County has a capacity of 7.65 gigawatts. Notably, the plant will initially operate off the state's power grid, delivering electricity exclusively to Amazon's new data center.
