Enterprise AI adoption faces internal sabotage, making FDE a high-risk job
dotey · x · 2026-08-09
A netizen claiming to be an FDE (Foundation Deployment Engineer) shared the real-world dilemma of driving AI adoption within a company. He found the role essentially identical to a traditional consultant, but facing intense hostility because it triggers layoff anxieties among employees.
He built MCP tools and local prototype systems to help PMs use AI for development. However, because this drastically improved PRD and prototype efficiency, he was accused by the Tech Director of "excessively intruding into the technical scope" and faced numerous complaints. The Tech Director eventually banned the dev team from using AI for programming, leading to passive resistance. He advised ordinary employees not to lead internal AI reforms unless they are the boss's confidant.
