Anthropic Investors Urge CEO Amodei to Soften AI Risk Warnings Ahead of IPO

Some Anthropic investors want CEO Dario Amodei to soften his warnings about AI existential risks as the company approaches its IPO, according to The Information.
However, shareholders have limited leverage over him because Amodei keeps major decision-making power within a tight circle of co-founders and family. A board member recently suggested that Anthropic mimic the PR strategies of Microsoft and Meta by promoting positive AI applications like drug discovery. Amodei reportedly rejected this, arguing that risks to human survival require a fundamentally different approach than standard tech marketing.
