Brin Admits Google Underinvested in AI After Publishing the Transformer Paper

Google co-founder Sergey Brin admitted in a recent interview that the company made strategic mistakes in AI. He stated that eight years ago, when they published the Transformer paper, Google didn't take it seriously enough, underinvested in scaling compute, and was too conservative in deploying the technology.
