KPMG's 'Global AI Pulse Q2 2026' report, based on a survey of 2,100 senior leaders across 20 countries, reveals the paradox of enterprise AI adoption:
- Value vs. ROI Gap: 76% of leaders say AI is delivering meaningful business value (up 12 points in a quarter), yet only 7% report achieving established ROI.
- Deployment Delays: Nearly half (49%) of organizations have delayed, narrowed, or rephased AI-agent deployments because expected costs began outweighing the value.
- Cost Visibility: Only 35% have full visibility into AI operating costs, but these organizations are much more likely to report established ROI (15%) compared to those without (3%).
- Employee Resistance: While global resistance fell slightly to 14%, US employee resistance surged from 5% to 20% in just one quarter.
- Workforce Shift: 78% expect AI fluency to become critical, and access to lower-cost, high-fidelity models is now the fastest-rising influence on corporate AI strategy.
