Hermes Agent Announces Support for Portable Plugin Standard with MCP Compatibility
Teknium · x · 2026-08-08
Hermes Agent by NousResearch has announced support for portable Agent Plugins v1 packages, a standard adopted by several major AI platforms.
Key features of this integration include:
- Compatibility: After installing a compatible repo, Hermes can load its namespaced, read-only skills and stdio MCP servers natively.
- Security: Packages are disabled by default until explicitly enabled by the user. Hermes validates the manifest, metadata, paths, and MCP configs before loading.
- Portable vs. Native: Portable plugins offer cross-platform reach, while native Hermes plugins provide deeper platform integration, including custom tools, slash commands, hooks, and Dashboard APIs.
