Over 420 UK Children Hit by AI Deepfake Nudification in Six Months
nordicinst · x · 2026-08-08
The Guardian reports a surge in explicit deepfake images targeting children in the UK. The anonymous flagging service Report Remove received 420 reports in the first half of this year alone, already surpassing the 397 total reports from 2025. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) warns that widely accessible AI and 'nudification' tools make it incredibly easy to manipulate benign photos of children into sexualized content, severely challenging online safety efforts.
