Varjo Launches People Occlusion: Real-time AI Composites Real People into VR

VR headset maker Varjo has introduced People Occlusion (Beta) in its Varjo Base 4.16 update. The feature uses real-time AI segmentation to detect real people in the passthrough feed and composite them seamlessly into fully virtual scenes.
Designed primarily for multi-crew training scenarios like cockpit simulations, the update eliminates the need for avatars or strict green-screen setups. It allows trainees to see actual teammates and instructors while maintaining full immersion in the virtual environment.
