Comparing $200 Subs: OpenAI Beats Anthropic in Coding Efficiency and Bug Catching

A developer ran both OpenAI and Anthropic's $200 subscriptions at full capacity for a week on a private project to compare their coding agents (Codex/Sol vs. Claude/Fable).

Usage & Limits: By Friday's reset, the Anthropic account was over 60% consumed (Fable architect at 90%+), while OpenAI still had 23% left. Logs showed Codex processed roughly 2.7 billion tokens (mostly cached), four times more than Claude's thread.

Bug Catching: Through cross-auditing, the author found Sol caught about two-thirds of meaningful errors when reviewing Fable's code, versus one-third in reverse. Weighted by cost, OpenAI delivered 1.6x the correction value of Anthropic, and 1.91x for serious findings.
