Notion's latest State of AI Report surveyed 6,000 companies, revealing the current landscape of enterprise AI capabilities:
- L1 Thought Partner (57%): Enhances thinking speed.
- L2 Assistant (31%): Executes basic tasks.
- L3 Teammate (10%): Participates in workflows.
- L4 System (2%): Creates new capabilities.
The data shows the majority haven't moved past the AI-as-an-assistant stage. To push towards L3/L4, the critical infrastructure factors identified include: connecting AI to existing systems (+18%), building governance/oversight (+16%), measuring impact with metrics (+15%), supporting recurring workflows (+13%), and connecting AI to company knowledge (+10%).
