UK Restaurants, Pubs, and Theatres Ban Meta Smart Glasses Over Privacy Fears

Meta's recent push to promote its new smart glasses has hit a privacy roadblock in the UK. To protect the privacy of customers and staff, multiple venues—including renowned restaurants, private members' clubs like Soho House, and the pub chain Wetherspoons—have explicitly banned the devices.
Venue operators emphasize that filming others without permission violates their codes of conduct. Although Meta claims the glasses have built-in safeguards against surreptitious recording, the public and physical venues remain concerned about the devices functioning as surveillance tools.
