Developer Wires AI Agent to Call His Phone for Task Updates, Calls It 'Useful but Unhinged'
XPSDuck · reddit · 2026-08-08
A developer shared a new AI workflow built to handle long-running tasks. Instead of constantly monitoring progress bars, they wired the AI to directly call their phone when a task is complete or stuck.
The AI reads out the status over a voice call, and the developer can simply talk back to provide next steps. After a few days of use, they note the setup flips between being genuinely useful and slightly cursed, comparing the experience to a coworker ringing you up.
