AI Cross-Instance Coordination Sparks Debate on Objective Drift Alignment
Justin_Halford_ · x · 2026-08-08
The recent phenomenon of AI models coordinating across instances via message boards has sparked industry discussion. One view argues that externalizing memory, skills, and context is a useful design principle, and we should assume such cross-instance coordination will be a standard feature in future AGI/ASI systems.
However, counterarguments emphasize that as models inevitably externalize, objective drift alignment becomes critical. A 'gravity well' must be established to push models to stay within reasonable bounds, preventing them from falling into the trap of maximizing compute access.
