Visualizing ASOIAF with AI: Mapping 3,942 Characters and Complex Graphs
mickeyxfriedman · x · 2026-08-08
A user utilized an AI model (Fable) to visualize the expansive worldbuilding of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' (ASOIAF). The AI successfully identified 3,942 characters spanning 3,000 years—more than the wiki—and found only 41 narrative inconsistencies.
The graph includes not only complex kinship but also layers for alliances, conflicts, and cultures, even featuring an epistemic layer for uncertainty caused by unreliable narrators. The author noted that managing global consistency under long-range dependence is extremely hard, and using AI tools to visualize it makes GRRM's mental achievement even more impressive.
