Nvidia B300 Specs Contradiction: More SMs but Same BF16 TFLOPS as B200
StasBekman · x · 2026-08-08
Developer Stas Bekman points out a discrepancy in Nvidia's official specifications: both the B200 and B300 chips list the identical bf16 TFLOPS performance.
However, the B300 reportedly features more Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs) than its predecessor. Since the theoretical TFLOPS calculation formula directly factors in the SM count, maintaining identical performance metrics with more SMs presents a mathematical contradiction. The author calls on developers with early access to run a PyTorch script to verify the actual physical SM count.
