Copilot Desktop GTK Launches for Linux as an Open-Source Web Wrapper
unixterminal · x · 2026-08-08
Developer Hayden Barnes has introduced Copilot Desktop GTK, an open-source application offering Linux users a desktop alternative to access Microsoft Copilot outside the browser.
Packaged via Flatpak and built on .NET 11, GTK4, and WebKitGTK, the project is essentially a wrapper around Microsoft's existing web app rather than a standalone client connected to a native Copilot API. Additionally, users should note that the unofficial app requests broad permissions, requiring a significant level of trust.
