OpenAI and core executive Greg Brockman have teased their next major model, codenamed Astra. Evaluations indicate significant capability advancements in agentic coding and cybersecurity.
Due to these leaps, OpenAI is treating Astra as its first "critical" model for cybersecurity under its Preparedness Framework. The team is implementing additional safety controls to ensure secure development and plans to put its advanced cyber capabilities into the hands of defenders.
