DeepMind Reorg: Demis Hassabis Becomes Chief Scientist, Team to Study AGI Socioeconomic Impact

Google DeepMind announced a major organizational restructure. Founder Demis Hassabis is stepping into the role of Chair of Google DeepMind & Chief Scientist of Alphabet to focus on long-term strategy and accelerating scientific breakthroughs. Koray Kavukcuoglu will step up as SVP to lead GDM.
Additionally, a DeepMind research team announced they will work closely with Hassabis to produce rigorous research on how advanced AI and AGI will broadly impact the economy and society, navigating the transition towards the singularity.
