Anthropic Relaxes Claude Fable Bio-Safety Guardrails, Cutting False Positives by 85%
JeremyNguyenPhD · x · 2026-08-08
Anthropic officially announced an update to Claude Fable 5's biology safeguards to reduce false positives. In internal testing, the update reduced biology-related fallbacks by about 85% across its product surfaces.
With this adjustment, Claude can now assist with a wider range of everyday health and educational questions. However, for professional requests considered dual-use—such as virology, toxicology, and molecular design—it will still fall back to the Opus 5 model, meaning it is not yet usable for professional biology research and drug development.
