A developer recently took to social media to complain about terrible experiences with Codex and Claude, stating they produced embarrassingly bad code. He also noted that Codex burned through his $200 subscription plan in less than a day for five consecutive days.

Seeking an alternative, he tested the Kimi K3 model via Opencode and reported amazing results. Kimi K3 successfully found and fixed the insane mistakes made by the other models. This hands-on experience led him to conclude that the tide is turning, and open-source models can truly be as good as or better than proprietary ones.
