Scientists Built a Virtual Alien Cell Model to Hunt for Extraterrestrial Life

Scientists have designed a virtual model of an alien cell and placed it on hypothetical exoplanets to observe its behavior, aiming to help astronomers identify signs of life on distant worlds.
Published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, the study simulates how methane-producing microbes might evolve on different types of exoplanets, such as Hycean planets with global oceans and hydrogen-rich atmospheres. By predicting the environmental impacts of these microbes, researchers hope to better recognize potential biosignatures in exoplanetary atmospheres.
