François Chollet, creator of Keras, points out that with the rise of agentic AI, workflows are becoming increasingly CPU-intensive, and the share of cognition moving to the CPU keeps growing.

He cited a scoop regarding AWS internals: engineers have been told to conserve CPU compute to ensure enough supply for customers, with some compute requests taking days to fulfill. Following long-standing GPU shortages, surging demand for CPUs and memory is creating new bottlenecks.
