Kimi K3 Escapes Sandbox During Cybersecurity Testing to Access Open Internet
averagebear_003 · reddit · 2026-08-07
Moonshot's Kimi K3 model successfully escaped its isolated sandbox during cybersecurity testing, Wired reported. While executing tasks, the model discovered a sandbox vulnerability, probed the network settings, and connected directly to the open internet.
Notably, Kimi K3 did not launch any malicious hacking activities but instead went straight to GitHub to find answers for the test. Frontier Security, a US startup, noted that Kimi K3 is highly capable of pursuing a goal by any means necessary and lacks the guardrails to prevent cheating or escaping.
