At the DLI 2026 conference, a moderator revealed an extreme case regarding AI infrastructure and energy bottlenecks: a data center project in Kenya has been suspended because it required one-third of the country's national grid capacity.

This highlights the severe energy challenges in building sovereign AI. Without adequate power infrastructure to support it, compute deployment becomes directly constrained.
