Google Open-Sources WeatherNext 2: Generates 15-Day Forecasts in Under a Minute

Google DeepMind and Google Research have officially open-sourced WeatherNext 2 (WN2), their most advanced global medium-range weather forecasting model, along with WeatherNext Cyclones for tropical cyclone prediction.
- Performance: The model can generate a single 15-day global forecast in under 1 minute.
- Open Source: The code is now available on GitHub, which also includes prior generative models like GraphCast and GenCast.
- Data Access: In addition to running the model directly, users can access daily data feeds of model outputs via Google Cloud, WeatherLab, and OpenMeteo.
