Hands-on with Papers with Code's New Chat UI: Integrating Exa Search and DeepSeek

A Hugging Face engineer added web search capabilities to Papers with Code's upcoming chat interface.
The feature is powered by a modern tech stack: it uses DeepSeek-V4 Flash via Baseten (through HF Inference Providers) for the model, Exa's MCP server for web search, and is deployed inside a Modal container. The author is currently collecting HF usernames to grant early access for testing and feedback.
