Three.js Creator 'Vibecodes' Commodore 64 Demo Using Claude

Mrdoob, the creator of Three.js, shared a Commodore 64 (C64) demo he built for the Assembly 2026 hackathon using "vibecoding" (natural language programming) with Claude.

Because LLMs cannot natively "see" monitors or "hear" audio, mrdoob built an instrumented emulator pipeline. This setup allowed him to verify the AI-generated code frame-by-frame using screenshots and memory dumps, demonstrating a practical workflow for leveraging AI in low-level retro graphics programming despite lacking multimodal feedback.
