Extreme Test: Running MiniMax Video Model on a 16GB MacBook
-Star-Walker- · reddit · 2026-08-07
A hardcore developer shared their experience of forcefully running the MiniMax video generation model on a 16GB RAM MacBook. Although the video quality was severely degraded, they successfully generated a clip using RebelAI's GGUF quantized versions and a modified ComfyUI workflow.
The machine took 1.5 hours to produce a 5-second video at 0.1MP resolution. By adding VRAM cleaning and cache clearing nodes to the workflow, the author managed to squeeze out the absolute limit of low-spec hardware.
