Dev Releases Local Terminal Voice Input Extension Based on Nemotron ASR

A developer released talk-to-pi, a local voice input extension designed specifically for terminal coding. Built on NVIDIA's newly released Nemotron 3.5 ASR 0.6B model and GGML runtime, it delivers smooth, real-time multilingual speech-to-text on CPU without requiring an extra server.

The plugin is intentionally minimalist, automatically downloading a 700MB model on first use. Users can trigger voice input via a shortcut, and the transcribed text can be directly inserted into the prompt input for editing. The author noted that current coding agents are smart enough to understand imperfect transcriptions, eliminating the need for an additional LLM pass for text cleanup.
