Lukas M. Ziegler highlights that while Europe may have lagged in the AI software race, its robotics sector is massively underestimated. Citing recent 2026 data, Europe has seen several mega-rounds:
- NEURA (Germany): Announced up to $1.4B, one of the largest humanoid-robotics rounds ever. The startup focuses on "cognitive" robots designed to see, feel, and learn new jobs autonomously.
- Quantum Systems (Germany): Raised $1.2B, one of Europe’s largest defense-tech rounds. Its AI reconnaissance drones accumulated over 20,000 real flight hours in Ukraine, helping secure a US Army contract.
- Humanoid (UK): Raised $152M, Europe’s largest Series A for a humanoid-first startup. During a Siemens factory test, its wheeled robot moved 60 bins an hour for 8+ hours with over 90% autonomous uptime.
