OpenAI Drains User's Bank Account with Unrecognized $500 API Charges
TheWorstGameDev · reddit · 2026-08-07
A Reddit user reported that their bank account was repeatedly charged $500 by OpenAI within a short period, completely wiping out their funds. The charges were used to purchase API credits for an unknown organization named Acm.
The victim claimed they had no access to this organization and the transactions were missing from their own billing history. Worse, OpenAI's automated support closed the help ticket because it couldn't detect the transactions, leaving the user without human support to resolve the issue.
