According to leaks, OpenAI's highly anticipated new model, codenamed Astra, is targeting a launch next week. The model is built on OpenAI's largest pretraining run to date, with the latest internal checkpoint named 'mewfour.'
OpenAI employees are reportedly already testing it internally at Cerebras-level speeds. While it could launch as either GPT-5.7 or GPT-6, GPT-5.7 currently appears more likely.
