Big Tech's 2026 AI Capex Hits $732.5B, Putting $1 Trillion in 2027 Within Reach

Wall Street has persistently underestimated the scale of Big Tech's AI infrastructure buildout. Guided capital expenditure for 2026 from Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and Google has reached $732.5 billion—158% higher than forecasts issued two years ago.
These tech giants are expected to deploy approximately $432 billion in the second half of 2026 alone. JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs now project that AI capex will hit the $1 trillion mark in 2027. Given the massive 2026 baseline, capex would only need to grow by 36.5% next year to cross the trillion-dollar threshold. Furthermore, major tech companies continue to indicate that current capacity falls short of actual demand.
