DeepSeek's Vision Capabilities Underestimated: Teaming Up with Qwen for Cost-Effective Coding Agents
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-08-07
A developer pointed out that DeepSeek's vision capabilities are already quite impressive. Combined with its cache economics, it is highly efficient and could easily justify a major price increase once the vision API officially ships.
For now, to bypass DeepSeek's lack of multimodal support, developers can use Alibaba's Qwen-3.7-Flash as an ultra-low-cost alternative for image recognition (costing less than 1 RMB per 1,000 images). By combining DeepSeek for coding and Qwen for vision, users can build a highly cost-effective workflow within various coding agents.
