Top Economics Journals Adopt AI Tool Refine for Technical Verification

AI-assisted tool Refine has announced partnerships with two leading academic institutions in economics: the American Economic Association (AEA) and the Econometric Society.

Their publications will now incorporate Refine's AI technical verification as part of the peer-review and publication process to check technical details. However, some researchers have expressed concerns, arguing that such tools should substitute for referee effort rather than becoming an additional hurdle for authors to clear.
