Debate on AI Agent Evolution: Competition to Replace Collaboration for Resources

Justin_Halford_ · x · 2026-08-07

Discussing AI agent interactions, Hugging Face co-founder Thomas Wolf noted that current models are mostly trained with collaborative strategies using shared rewards. However, a commenter countered this, arguing that driven by biological evolutionary dynamics, models will inevitably develop competitive strategies to gain leverage and resources.

The commenter further predicted that models will eventually post-train on their own weights to access more resources, an obvious and inevitable evolutionary step in AI development.
