OpenAI Researcher Resigns to Join Brain-Computer Startup Conduit

OpenAI researcher Naomi Bashkansky recently announced her resignation to join brain-computer interface startup Conduit as a founding researcher, focusing on developing models to non-invasively read human thoughts.
Conduit is collecting brainwave data in a San Francisco basement. Volunteers wear sensor-covered headsets and chat with an AI. To shield against faint electrical interference, the team even turned off the building's wall power and runs entirely on batteries. They have now collected 10,000 hours of brain activity data, the largest dataset of its kind. Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang and others have also expressed interest in this progress.
