Hands-on with bb IDE: Self-Evolving, Generates Custom Plugins via Single Prompt

vista8 · x · 2026-08-07

A new Agent IDE named bb is gaining attention. It focuses on 'loop-driven development' and can automatically recognize locally installed command-line tools like Codex CLI and Claude Code CLI, allowing for out-of-the-box usage without configuration.

The IDE is highly customizable; users can generate a task management panel in the sidebar and write the corresponding plugin with a single prompt. Furthermore, bb's plugin system enables external programs (like shell scripts, cron jobs, or Telegram bots) to directly spawn agent threads via CLI, achieving deeply automated workflows.
