Researchers Criticize AI Pipelines in Peer Review: Authors Become Free Debuggers
RexDouglass · x · 2026-08-07
The author points out severe flaws in using AI pipelines for scientific peer review. When an AI system spits out an error during a review, authors are essentially forced into becoming free debuggers for the system. Because these AI systems are constantly updated, past bugs are dismissed as historical issues, leaving authors in a position where they can never truly be proven right or wrong. The author argues this mechanism prevents it from being real science, making it even worse than traditional secret peer review.
