Top Economics Journals Adopt AI-Assisted Peer Review via Refine

AI academic tool Refine has announced partnerships with the American Economic Association (AEA) and the Econometric Society to integrate its AI-assisted technical verification into their publication processes. Economists welcomed the move, noting AI can improve paper rigor, but emphasized that AI should be limited to technical checks while substantive academic judgments must remain human-led.
