EMNLP 2026 Announces Keynote Speakers: Focus on World Models and Open Research

The top NLP conference EMNLP 2026 has announced its first batch of keynote speakers and their topics:
- Pascale Fung (former Meta-FAIR Senior Director, Co-founder of AMI Labs): "Towards AI that understands the Real World." She will discuss the next frontier beyond generative models — world models — emphasizing the need for AI to learn abstract representations from continuous multimodal data to enable reasoning, planning, and action beyond next-token prediction, while modeling human intent and social context.
- Graham Neubig: "On the Value of Open Research in Language Modeling - An Adversarial Dialog."
The conference is scheduled for October in Budapest, Hungary.
