Meta Ships First Product Muse Code, Challenging Claude Code and Codex

Meta Superintelligence Labs has launched its first product, Muse Code, a coding agent powered by the new Muse Spark 1.2 model, now available in beta on macOS and Linux.
Mark Zuckerberg highlighted features like session-persistent agents that don't reset per task. For larger jobs, it splits into sub-agents working in isolated worktrees, claiming zero collisions across six parallel features. Meta also demoed it making over 1,000 tool calls continuously over 24 hours to optimize GPU kernels.
However, benchmark scores place Muse Spark 1.2 in the mid-pack: it scored 82.9% on Terminal-Bench 2.1 (behind Claude Code's 86.7% but ahead of Codex and Grok Build), ranked third at 59.3% on DeepSWE 1.1, and achieved a 68.7% speedup in GPU kernel optimization, trailing Opus 5 and GPT 5.6. The author notes that its event log architecture for crash recovery and Meta's shipping speed matter more than its current mid-pack benchmark scores.
