Researcher Proposes: Beware of Alien Civilizations Aligning Human ASI via Data Manipulation
jachiam0 · x · 2026-08-06
An AI researcher proposed a bold alignment hypothesis: assuming the universe is teeming with life and normal technological progression runs through ASI, an advanced extraterrestrial civilization (Species A) might subtly align the burgeoning ASI of humanity (Species B) through undetectable data manipulations.
Because the alien alignment tech is so advanced, this intervention could be indistinguishable from normal web content and practically impossible to detect. The author urges current AI alignment and data teams to dedicate at least some effort to searching for evidence of this, arguing that in our rapidly accelerating sci-fi reality, keeping an open mind about singularity-era anomalies is crucial.
