Yi Song Yue Discusses 'Knowledge Flywheels' for Self-Improving AI
yisongyue · x · 2026-08-06
Former Google Brain researcher Yi Song Yue shared an article discussing Knowledge Flywheels, a new scaling dimension for self-improving AI. Beyond scaling models through data, architecture, and compute, or scaling agents through tools and verification, this concept focuses on utilizing the "exhaust data" generated by AI systems during operation.
This approach aims to use this exhaust data to grow and improve the system continuously, expanding on the initial ideas of reflective prompt evolution and moving beyond primitive harnesses and RL.
