Commenting on the recent role changes of Demis Hassabis and Jeff Dean, the author argues this is not bearish for Google DeepMind, but rather reflects that achieving AGI and ASI is beginning to look increasingly overdetermined. With the outcome seemingly locked in, staying in operational leadership is no longer as high-leverage. The author predicts leaders will converge on using AGI for economic transformation: research-minded leaders will focus on AI for Science, while product-minded leaders will aim to transform how companies operate.
