Bizarre Claude Pro Bug: Usage Limit Exhausted Instantly After 5-Hour Reset
Outside_Leopard3949 · reddit · 2026-08-06
A Claude Pro subscriber reported a severe usability anomaly: their account hits the "usage limit reached" message immediately after every 5-hour reset, making it impossible to send even a single message.
The strangest part of the bug:
- The user only runs basic Claude Code prompts without any background agents or automations.
- Even after logging out of all devices and completely powering off the PC at night, the quota continues to be silently consumed, with weekly usage steadily increasing.
The official support bot failed to resolve the issue. The community suspects this might be caused by a stuck Claude Code background process or a severe tracking/billing bug on Anthropic's end.
